Tea workers

They wake up early to take care of chores at home, and then they head out into the fields for hours to pick tea leaves under the beating sun. All of it is hard, physical work. The injustices they told me about comprise an ironic flip side to the profit and waste involved in the production of the world's second most popular beverage. I do take issue with the fact that people in one part of the world are made to suffer so that people in another part can trivialize their purchase of a hot cup of tea by throwing half of it away.
